Standing Outside The Fire (1993) -

Standing Outside The Fire (1993) - Video Detective  This is video of a boy with down syndrome who never gives up. He is running in a track meet. During the race, he falls and gets up, falls and gets up. This young boy is inspiring as he approached his goal....To FINISH! When you write a personal program with goals always remember to set goals that are reachable.

The Personal Program Planning lesson went wonderful!  It seemed like everyone
changed their goal perspective outlook. The track and field meet went as planned. Everyone seemed to understand the basic skills to perform at each event. We performed six track and field events. Everyone scored themselves to see where they placed in the class. We reflected on how our goals are different than everyone else's. Always remember when in doubt use the 3 P's.... "Push, Past, Pain."

Flexibility and Dance

Flexibility- the range of motion possible around a specific joint or series of articulations.

3 stretches in flexibility: ballistic, dynamic, and static.

1.) Ballistic- bouncing motion
2.) Dynamic- active movements of muscle that bring forth a stretch but are not held in the end position.
3.) Static- extended time, 10-60 seconds.
In the dance portion of our class, each member put together their own 8 count dance. The group then put all of the counts together to form the dance.

Case Study Presentations

What I would like to implement into my program:

1. Respect is the foundation of all rules!
2. You should teach both the student and the athlete.
3. Dress out in school colors.
4. Award extra credit if students go to an extracurricular event in order to keep students involved.
5. If you do not dress out, you have to stand up the entire time.
