Flexibility and Dance

Flexibility- the range of motion possible around a specific joint or series of articulations.

3 stretches in flexibility: ballistic, dynamic, and static.

1.) Ballistic- bouncing motion
2.) Dynamic- active movements of muscle that bring forth a stretch but are not held in the end position.
3.) Static- extended time, 10-60 seconds.
In the dance portion of our class, each member put together their own 8 count dance. The group then put all of the counts together to form the dance.

Case Study Presentations

What I would like to implement into my program:

1. Respect is the foundation of all rules!
2. You should teach both the student and the athlete.
3. Dress out in school colors.
4. Award extra credit if students go to an extracurricular event in order to keep students involved.
5. If you do not dress out, you have to stand up the entire time.

Kindergarten- 2nd Grade Physical Education Behavior Report

I decided to put the rules and consequences in the behavior report so the parents would know our rules and consequences in the classroom. K-2 is using the “smiley face” procedure, while 3-5 is using “reflection space”.

3rd- 5th Grade Physical Education Behavior Report

Behavior Reports

                                BEHAVIOR CHART

Kindergarten- 2nd Grade Physical Education Behavior Chart

I would have the kids’ names on each slot. Each slot would contain the colored faces from the chart above. I would have blue, green, yellow, and red different colored faces for the students to change in their pockets.

Dear Parents and Students,
I would like to be the first one to welcome you to the new school year here at Spain Park High School! This will be a new and exciting year. I received my bachelor's degree at Jacksonville State University in physical education. I am also the cross country and track and field coach at Spain Park High School.

Teaching Philosophy:  Physical education is a class that incorporates lifelong skills to learn about healthy growth and development. I believe that being physically active for a lifetime is important. The future of physical education is in the hands of new teachers with new teaching styles. Activities that eliminate students, involve standing around, and do not encourage students to succeed, must be taken out of present teacher’s plans.
